Allagash canoe trips A deposit of $200 per person is required to make a reservation more than 30 days before trip departure. Balance is due 30 days before trip departure. Payment-in-full is required for late sign ups (those who register within 30 days of trip departure). Prices include Maine waterway fee, road access fee, transportation to and from the river, food and all equipment necessary for the trip.

BONAVENTURE RIVER: 6 Days June 9-14
The Bonaventure river flows out of the Chic Choc Mountains of the Gaspe Peninsula, and its upper course cuts swiftly through hillsides, producing a surprise around every corner. Its remarkable, crystal-clear water and cobblestone river bed combine with forested banks to produce deep emerald green color as the river hurries to meet the sea. We follow this trip with a hike in the Chic Choc mountains with chance to see caribou above timberline. This trip is for the hardy canoeist with good whitewater skills

TRIP APPLICATION

Custom Trips

Our schedule permitting, we can reserve a trip on dates of your choice. If you open your trip to others and give us several months notice, scheduled trips rates may apply. If you want to limit the size of your group you may be asked to pay a higher rate depending on party size. Groups of less than 5 adults will have to pay a higher fee per person. Groups of 10 or more, represented by one person, may be eligible for a discounted rate, especially in May, June or September. Below are a few trip suggestions. Let us know your needs as far in advance as possible.

Pricing for our custom trips vary. Typically a 1-4 day trip will be $190.00 person. A 5-8 day trip will be $160.00 person, rate quotes are for a minimum of 5 adults. Some trips require additional waterway & road fee.

Custom Trip Reservations & Cancellation Policy

CUSTOM TRIP RESERVATIONS: Available dates may be reserved with a deposit of $300 per person. Payment-in full or balance due is required 60 days before trip departure.

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR CUSTOM TRIPS: Cancellations over 60 days before trip departure: deposit is non-refundable but may be applied to another trip within three years. Cancellations within 60 days of trip date: 50% of trip cost will be charged and the remaining 50% is non-refundable but may be applied to another trip within three years.  

WEST BRANCH OF THE PENOBSCOT/CHESUNCOOK LAKE HOUSE:
Our traditional canoe trip with the last night we stay at the Chesuncook Lake House, a beautiful 100 year old farm house, this includes dinner & breakfast and lodging at the Lake House.
EAST BRANCH PENOBSCOT : 4 Days.
Class II and some III whitewater, several hardy portages, a bit a "Canada" in Maine, excellent fishing opportunities.
ALL WOMEN AND GIRLS PENOBSCOT TRIP:
This trip is designed for women and girls, please join us for 4 days of fun, learning, challenges and quality time together.

WEST BRANCH PENOBSCOT RIVER TO CHESUNCOOK LAKE: 2-6 days The Penobscot trip is great for beginners and families. Paddle Thoreau's legendary trip into the North Maine Woods, enjoy beautiful sunsets, campsites, and wonderful views of Mt Katahdin. This trip can be easily customized to fit your needs, add a whitewater day, hike, visit historic Chesuncook Village, and other options.
ST. CROIX TRIP: 3-6 days The St Croix river offers a nice mix of quiet water and rapids, nice campsites, and beautiful sunsets & sunrises! The St Croix is an excellent river for learning basic whitewater paddling skills.
MOOSE RIVER BOW TRIP: 3-5 days Great beginner and family trips, waterfalls, hike, paddle gentle flowing river.
KENNEBEC RIVER: day or overnight trips:
EAST OUTLET TO INDIAN POND: 3 miles of Class II-III rapids
WEST OUTLET: 9 miles beautiful stream, ponds, Class I-II shallow rapids

The following trips are suitable for adults & teens. Whitewater experience (solid Class II and higher) is reccommended.

WEST BRANCH PENOBSCOT CANOEING/BIRD HUNTING:
This trip incorporates our traditional wilderness canoe trip with opening season "ruffed grouse" hunting. This is a unique opportunity to travel with paddle and hunt the land as early frontier men did. (please note: you must have a current Maine hunting license, your own firearm & ammunition, and two selections of "hunter orange"). Bird dogs welcome.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Over 60 days before trip departure: deposit refunded*. 60-30 days: deposit is non-refundable, but can be applied to another trip within two years. 30-15 days: all payments are non-refundable but can be applied to another trip within two years. Within 14 days: you will be charged 50% of the trip cost, and the remainder can be applied to another trip within two years. *A $25 per person non-refundable reservation fee will be subtracted from all refunds or credits toward another trip. Enrollment is limited, so early reservations are advised.

Although it rarely happens, Allagash Canoe Trips reserves the right to cancel any trip due to inadequate enrollment, safety, or due to forces of nature beyond our control. In such cases, we will fully refund your trip fee, but cannot be responsible for other costs you may have incurred. Check with your travel agent about Trip Cancellation Insurance.

*KIDS Those under 15, traveling with adults. Kids traveling alone are welcome to join any of our open trips, in which case the full rate will apply.

TRANSPORTATION: For Maine trips our rates include transportation from Greenville to the river and back. For plane and bus travelers, we can pick you up in Bangor the day BEFORE your trip begins and return you there at the end of the trip. Shuttle from Bangor Airport to Greenville the DAY before your trip is $100.00 for one, 2 or more $75.00 each.
